Visual Effects

The following effects are a selection from those that I’ve made, which I consider to be the best examples of my technical skills, grasp of composition and timing, and that demonstrate the variety of effects I can make.

Chomp animation

I made this animation in Aseprite as a commission for my friend’s game. The character consumes the flesh of the fallen foe to level up.

Ocean shore Scene

I developed this water shader in Amplify to fit multiple panels together seamlessly and simulate a stylized and gentle wave, as well as a deformation shader for the bird’s movements.

Fire effect

I developed this effect utilizing Unreal Engine 4’s Cascade system and textures from Call of Duty 3: Black Ops’ mod software.

HOLOGRAM SHADER

I built this shader in Unity3D using the Shader Graph add-on. It is meant to resemble the slow-scrolling lines of a holographic figure.

DISSOLVE SHADER

I made this shader in Unity3D using the Shader Graph add-on. It is a glowing dissolve with a fresnel effect to highlight the dissolving section.

Wind waker explosion

I made this effect in Unity3D to duplicate the bomb explosion effect from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. It is a combination of custom made textures and particle effects.

PIXELATED SNOW PARTICLE SYSTEM

A 2D particle effect I made in Unity of snow particles affected by a small amount of wind. The particles also have collisions applied to them, so they pile up on ground surfaces.

Distortion SHADER

I developed this shader in Unity3D’s Shaderforge add-on. The shrinking aspect is part of a script written by a coworker.

LIGHT BEAM EFFECT

I made this light beam effect in Unity 3D, and made the textures from scratch in Photoshop. It is meant to act as beacon.

Laser effect

I made this effect in Unity 3D, by interacting with the line renderer, a script I wrote, and a few parented particle effects.

Glowing cloud particle system

I made this effect in Unity3D. I made the cloud’s and glowing circle’s textures in Photoshop.
